Good afternoon everyone, most of you will probably realize that this blog has been severely neglected over the past two or three months.  So this week I have made myself a promise that WP King will undergo an extreme makeover and re-launch.  Here’s a summary of what will be changing on WP King this week:

• Fresh New Look
• New Logo
• Regular posts written by experienced writers and knowledgeable guests
• More free Wordpress themes designed and programmed by us.

I really want WP King to build up in popularity again and become a highly interactive blog between us and you the readers.  We are always open to comments and suggestions.

A related post plugin will display to your readers some other of your posts which are related to the ones they are already looking at, these could be matched by keywords, title and tags.  The more time the reader spends on your site is advantageous in every way.  So lets look at some of the best related posts plugins out there for wordpress.

• Yet Another Related Posts Plugin - Probably my favourite due to its simplicity, after the easy install, it automatically displays related posts at the bottom of every post.  You can also adjust this plugin to work on your RSS feed.  Related pages function also implemented.
• Wordpress Related Posts Plugin - Another fast and easy option, simiar to the above and can run in the sidebar.
• Contextual Related Posts - Displays a list of 5 related posts to the one you are reading.  These related posts will appear just below the comments form.  Easy to use and install.

Those 3 are probably the best ones out there today, some Wordpress themes have this function already integrated which is a bonus for some.

This is somewhat a random post which isn’t really related to Wordpress as such, but it will apply to everyone out there who does run a blog or a business.

Most people would say that they have a lot of information coming out of different sources and are placed on many different mediums such as a word processor, pieces of paper scattered around the office, files and flash drives.  There are many organizational and mind-mapping tools out there, many of which I have used in the past to manage all my tasks, but few have been as impressive as Mindomo.

Mindomo is a free and easy to use mind-mapping application, the basic package is free, as of yet I have not found any real reasons to upgrade to the paid version.  It’s all online and it allows you to create charts, brain storms, relational mappings etc.  I really don’t think I could manage without it now.

It’s fast and easy to get up, fill in the registration form which takes a couple of minutes and away you go!  Everything is self-explanatory but there are help pages on there if you are unsure of anything.

I would strongly suggest you try it out at the least.  I use it for my weekly to-do tasks, store contact information and as a planning tools for my blogs and business.

Flook has now been officially released!  It’s a great theme for your Wordpress blog with many fantastic features, best of all you can all download it and use the theme for free!

Placing 125*125 ads on your blog or Worpdress site is an interesting and different approach to monetizing your site.  We all know that adsense and the like are very bland and can sometimes ruin the look of your sidebar, but with 125*125 ads you can place interesting and eye-catching ads paid for by other sites or even displaying some of your affiliate links.  There are many plugins out there which can make this whole process much less stressful than boring programming them yourself.  Below I have listed some examples and links.

WP125: Easy 125*125 Ad Management for Wordpress
A great tool which is very easy to install and use.  Supports one or two column ad displays and can display an unlimited number of ads, a great feature is that it can randomly show your ads.  It also has a tool which keeps track of the number of click a certain ad receives, great for ad analysis.  I really like WP125 and use it for most of my blogs, I really like the way you can set expiry dates for your ads, you can even receive emails when the ads are about to expire, really is the complete tool.

UBD Block Ad Plugin
Developed by the guys at Unique Blog Designs so you instantly know it’s going to be a quality product.  This plugin is very flexible indeed and allows users to customize the looks and feel of their ads instantly.  Similar to WP125, you can also set expiry dates for ads and be notified when they are due to expire.  Automatic rotation is a fantastic feature of this particular ad management plugin.  Very east to install and even easier to use, targeted at beginners and pro’s alike.

After installing and implementing the plugin, you can upload your very own designs, make money by selling these ad blogs or even display your affiliate links.  I would recommend placing between 2 and 6 ads, depending on the size of your site, you don’t want it to look too cluttered.

Blogging Idol 2 has just got under-way, good luck to all the participants.  Blogging Idol 2 is a great competition which has around 104 participants this year and the only entry requirement is that you have less than 2,000 RSS subscribers and that you have a feedburner feed count implemented onto your site.  The aim of the competition is to seek out those bright webmasters who can gain the most RSS subscribers between the 1st and 30th of November.  You are not allowed to use blackhat methods and you are not allowed to spend money on the promotion.

The winner of the competition will win $1500 worth of prizes, $800 of which will be paid via PayPal and the rest will come in the form of a complete consultation by Joost the Valk which is a fantastic prize in itself.

There really are not catches here, if you want the theme for free you will get it.  The way Revolution Two will attempt to make money is by offering support packages.  The pro package costs $99.99 per year and in return you will receive unlimited theme support and your questions answered by theme experts.  You can also learn customization techniques via their pro package tutorials.  The Pro Plus package costs $149.95, which is a LIFETIME membership to the Pro Package.  Of course there is no obligation to join these support packages, you can just simply download the theme and configure it yourself.

You really should check out the themes here if you are creating a new wordpress blog or would like a change of image for your existing blog.  All the themes are of high quality but below I have highlighted a couple of my favorites.

So why don’t you just put your email address on the page and let the users email you themselves?   Well appart from looking pretty unprofessional, it leaves you open to spammers and before you know it your inbox is full of useless junk.  Also with a contact for you can specify certain fields so the site owner can request specific information to best answer their questions.

Creating email contact forms by hand can be very complicated, especially for novice users.  You may need advanced knowledge of programming languages such as HTML, CSS, Ajax and PHP, it can also be extremely time consuming.  So if your using wordpress, there are numerous free plugins out there which allows you to instantly create advanced email contact forms instantly.  Below are some examples:

• cForms II - This is a great plugin and is what we use for this site (check it out on the contact page).  Very easy to use and very easy to install.
• Contact Form 7 - I like this plugin due to its support for CAPATCHA for added security, again very simple to use and install, really is a great plugin without the annoying and useless frills and flares
• Secure & Accessible PHP Contact Form - Developed by Mike Jolley and is a real gem of a plugin, I have been considering switching to this myself.
